As Verve approaches it’s 30th Birthday this year, we are very much looking forward to raising a glass and celebrating this milestone. We all love a birthday and this past year has been no exception. We may not have been able to pop the champagne and party like we normally do, but here are our top 5 brands who still celebrated in style and generated extra brand awareness, albeit in virtual form!
To mark Creme Egg’s 50th anniversary, Cadbury launched their ‘Creme Egg Golden Goobilee’ with an innovative advert which categorises their consumers into Lickers, Bakers, Eggsperts, Dippers, Discreaters & Sharers…We’d definitely be dippers! This fun and relatable content was followed with a high value prize competition, to find 200 ‘Golden Creme Eggs’. Finding one of these golden eggs could win you £5,000. That is a lot of Easter Chocolate!
In 2020, Instagram celebrated its 10th Birthday with new features and a blast from the past. The Instagram stories map allowed consumers to look back on where their stories were taken if they had used a location tag. Users were also treated to a customisation function, allowing consumers to choose from the old school Instagram icons for your home screen. In addition to this, Instagram launched an in-stream shopping function, meaning that users can easily shop whilst watching IGTV.
Since its first release in 1985 in the Nintendo Entertainment System in Japan, Mario Kart has sold around 373 million copies worldwide! This makes it one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time. In 2020, Mario Kart celebrated its 35th birthday in style by releasing collectable merchandise and a number of new games, including a 35 player battle ‘in the world of the original Super Mario Bros game’.
This year in 2021, Johnnie Walker will be celebrating their 200th anniversary – what an amazing milestone. The brand is planning a plethora of cultural events, four exclusive limited-edition products and the opening of a new immersive experience in Edinburgh. The experience is part of a wider investment into Scotch whisky tourism and we cannot wait to try this out!
As OPI prepare to celebrate their 40 birthday in 2021, they are using social platforms to highlight 40 of the most iconic shades over 40 weeks. The brand states that colour is at the centre of inspiration as it holds the power to change behaviours and redefine culture. The brand are using Instagram to personify the colours and provoke conversation through impactful stories.
Until next time,
