The Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon is in it’s 36th year and Verve have been partners to the event on behalf of title sponsor Vhi for 4 years now.
As well as looking after the design, production and install for all the on course branding along the 10km route, we are challenged each year to come up with new ways of supporting the 35,000 participants.
The 7KM mark, just at the bottom of Nutley Lane, saw the return of our very popular 120 sq ft Vhi Wall of Support. By using technology that allowed us to read a lady’s race number as she approached the big screen, any message that was linked to that race number appeared instantly. The reaction as always was fantastic – so many participants found it massively encouraging to see a personalised message just for them from family and friends on the screen as they passed by.
With 1km to go – no doubt the toughest kilometre – the Dublin Gospel Choir aka the “Vhi Soul Supporters” also played their part in keeping the ladies going, for the first time this year. Using similar race number technology, the Choir were able to identify ladies’ names as they reached Pembroke Road – imagine what a boost it was to hear your name being sung by a Gospel Choir as you psyched yourself up for the final stretch.
After being rewarded with a chilled pack of refreshing fruit pieces from Vhi at the finish line, ladies were able to make their way down to Merrion Square to enjoy the “Vhi Relaxarena” – an open tented area in a sunny corner of Merrion Square where you could meet up with friends, warm down with a team of physiotherapists, enjoy a banana from our Motivational Banana Wall or simply just chill in hammock or on a beanbag listening to our DJ play chill out tunes for the afternoon.
The Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon is amazing event which raise hundreds and thousands of euro for very deserving chairites each year – we are proud to support Vhi and all the participants in the largest female running event in the world!
